What is Splashlights? Imagine ombre going on a date with the late nineties, You know the trend, the one where everyone died their hair black on the bottom and made their hair blonde on top. Some have worn it so long you will be pleased to know it's back!!!
In the wearable form it is meant to look like a reflection of light your hair makes when it's shiny. In it's really bad form, it is a harsh blunt line across your head. If done well, there is still a horizontal line, only well blended. You are even seeing it on stars like Meghan Fox and Jessica Biel. So if you have been rocking ombre for 7+ years and are ready for something a little new, this is the perfect change.
Have your colorist map out the top to keep your existing ombre and dye everything underneath it dark, while keeping your existing ombre on top. I say, go for it. To keep it modern I recommend keeping the difference in tone no more than 4 shades. This means avoiding black if you are going to use blonde as your horizontal band. Go for a rich medium brown which is much softer.
